Inverted nipple is a very common condition that has been estimated to affect 10-20 % of the female population. The inverted nipple correction procedure can be performed alone or with other breast reduction procedures.
It is commonly performed along with a breast augmentation or uplift procedure, though the surgeon should be meticulous in the technique selection to avoid any healing problems regarding the nipple.
If the inverted nipple repair is performed alone, it will likely be done in the procedure room. You will be given medication to make you comfortable, and a numbing cream will be applied to alleviate or minimize the pain from local anesthetic injections. Once you are completely numb, Dr. Karaaltın will perform the procedure. The procedure typically takes between 30 minutes and one hour. Afterwards, you will have a bulky dressing applied to keep the nipples in the correct position and protect the repair. This dressing will be removed 5 - 7 days post-operatively.
