Dr. Mehmet Veli Karaaltın, ENT Specialist İsmet Emrah Emre and Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Berfin Karataş said that the young man from Gaza was in very bad condition when he arrived, and his face was like puzzle pieces separated from each other.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Karaaltın said, “After a 6-hour operation and a difficult surgery, we managed to bring Abdulmuti back. He is a very patient child for his age. He understands that he is in the healing process, shows resistance and does not ask too many questions. He was fitted with a device to allow the bones in his face to heal. He will have no problems with vision, taste or breathing. There may be a slight decrease in his sense of smell, but hopefully soon he will be able to smile, run, play and chase a ball as he wishes.”

4 More Members of His Family Wounded

Isa Al-Asmar, President of the Palestinian White Hands Association, who attended the press conference and worked to bring the Gazan boy to Istanbul, said that the mission of their association is to help the sick. He said that they brought 15 patients, including Abdulmuti, to Turkey and expressed their gratitude to the hospital, the surgical team, the hospital management and Dr. Karaaltın for treating the wounded.

Al-Asmar said, “A missile fell where Abdulmuti was. Four other members of his family were injured. I thank Turkey for embracing us and helping to heal the wounds of Gaza and Palestine.” Abdulmuti, who attended the press conference, appeared to be in good condition.
